Training and Continuing Education

Upon successful completion of the selection requirements each applicant must attend an Orientation Class and go through Pre-Assignment Training taught by a certified instructor. The course is designed to provide training in several areas of security. It contains a multitude of subjects that are security related and aimed at increasing knowledge of the different facets of security as well as preparing officers for situations that could arise at a client's facility. This course consists of the following subjects, but not limited to:

• Physical Private Security
• Professional Demeanor
• Professional Attitude
• Appearance
• Public Relations
• Report Writing & Note Taking
• Legal Aspects
• Arrest Procedures
• Court Testimony
• Duties
• Fire Control & Prevention
• Patrol Techniques
• Safety Procedures

This session also involves acting out hypothetical situations with which security personnel may be confronted and learning how to use communication devices. Applicants must pass a test for every subject covered and only then will these applicants be considered for a position with DCI.
